Accessibility Statement

 

Transport:

Bwthyn Gwarcwm is easily accessible by car. The nearest town is Carmarthen (approx 9 miles) which has a railway station and bus services. If traveling by public transport, the X40 Cardiff to Aberystwyth bus (click here for timetable) passes through Carmarthen and there is a stop at the top of the road with a 0.7 mile walk from the main A485 Carmarthen to Lampeter road to the cottage. Windy Corner Garage is 0.9 miles from the cottage and has a taxi service (01559 384779).

 There is a tarmac drive exclusively for the use of the cottage which easily accommodates 2 cars. The front door is 6 m from the parking area. Access is through a farm gate and a slightly uneven paved path. The owners can help load and unload luggage on request.

 The cottage is on one floor with split levels throughout. Different textures in the flooring denote different areas with the steps being stone, the kitchen and bathroom quarry tiles and the other rooms and the corridor wooden.

 There are two points of access into the cottage:

  • The main door is 86cm wide with a step of 5 cm and opens onto three interior stone steps (20 cm H x 32 cm D). This entrance is into the kitchen area. Access to the kitchen is through a 70 cm space.
  • Door 2 is 86 cm wide with a 10 cm step and opens onto two interior stone steps (22 cm H x 32 cm D). This entrance is into the living room.

 Kitchen:

Kitchen Worktop height is 90 cm The Kitchen and living room are open plan with a step from the kitchen to the living room of 23 cm and an opening of 89 cm. The dining area is in the kitchen. The kitchen is an ‘L’ shape and the electric cooker is accessible through a space of 97 cm.

 Living room:

There are open stone steps in the living room which drop to the entrance door. A removable wire mesh guard is available to fit the steps if required. There is a back door to the grounds from the living room which is 76 cm wide opening onto three stone steps (64cm D x 21 cm H/58 cm D X 21 cm H/55 cm D x 23 cm H).

 The sitting area has custom made corner seating offering space for up to six people. The seating is 39 cm in height and can be converted to 2 single beds if required.

 Remote controls are available for TV, Video, DVD and stereo/tuner.

 Light switches and power points are at a sensible height.

 The bathroom and bedrooms are accessible from a corridor reached from the kitchen. The door from the kitchen is 71 cm wide; a radiator restricts access by a further 14 cm. The corridor is 104 cm wide with a radiator restricting width to 92 cm at the kitchen end.

 Bathroom:

The bathroom door is 73cm wide. Bath height 61 cm with grab handles on each side, flexible shower over. Toilet height 42 cm (with seat). Over mirror light has a shaving point. Additional non-slip mat available for bath. There is a suction grab rail available for the bath/shower and a foldable stepping stool to aid access to the bath.

 There are 2 bedrooms:

 Bedroom 1:

Twin with 2 single beds; door width 84 cm.

 Bedroom 2:

There is a step up to the bedroom from the corridor of 20 cm. Double bed. Door width 83 cm.

 Linen is cotton or poly cotton. Non-feather duvets and pillows with mattress and pillow protectors.

 Light switches and power points at a sensible height.

 Garden and grounds:

The cottage has a fenced garden area which is on one level; mainly grass and slightly uneven in places.

 There are 30 acres of land attached to the property which are available to guests. Access to pasture land is adjacent to the cottage parking area. Access to woodland is uneven and very steep and slippery in places and would be unsuitable for the infirm or very young children. Good waterproof walking shoes with firm tread are advisable.

 Laundry:

Guests can have access to the owner’s washing machine located in an outbuilding by arrangement. There is an uneven concrete step of 8 cm and then a step of 36 cm to the door which is 72 cm wide. The owner can offer a washing service if access is difficult for guests.

 Mobile phone reception is dependent on network and can be erratic. The owner is on site.

 Tesco is able to deliver to the property and the owner can also collect provisions by arrangement if required.
